THE BROKENHEARTED Pounds Away At The Violence With A Dark, Moody Teaser

YouTube Poster

The first official teaser is now online for The Brokenhearted, the new independent action crime thriller from actor and filmmaker Leroy Nguyen. The film marks his latest return to film after leaving some feature notches on his belt with titles like Black Scar Blues, Silverback, and Joey Min’s 2019 action comedy, Yes, Auntie!, and the recent quiet release of James Boss’s indie actioner, Money Fight, on Tubi.

Produced by Nguyen out of his Rising Tiger label, The Brokenhearted chronicles the violent aftermath of what happens when money becomes a factor between three former childhood friends – a struggling martial artist whose school fails after taking out a loan, and two gangsters: one intent on collecting on the debt, and the other looking to quell the fallout before it’s too late. Development on the pic began in August 2020, and I am told that the film is at least 75% complete as of Sunday.

Nguyen has since uploaded some behind-the-scenes clips of the film’s progress on his Instagram page, along with the preliminary teaser via YouTube to help set the mood. It’s definitely in line with a lot of Nguyen’s other work with its brooding tone and allure and blues rock aesthetic to whet the appetite.

The Brokenhearted also stars Jackie Kim, Samuel Joon Lee, Travis Davis, Gene Rush, and Alex Au, and until all else is revealed, you’re invited to follow Nguyen on Instagram to keep track of his future endeavors.
