Filmmaker Kim Hee-seong made a landing in 2015 co-helming with Kwon Soo-keyong for web drama, The Flatterer!. He’s since become more prolific in the action arena with first and second installments of The Techniques of Fighting and now, he’s at it again with a seething new crime thriller in The Goblin, starring Jo Dong-hyuk (Bad Guys: Reign Of Chaos) and Lee Wan (Cinema Street).
The skinny? Jo plays an infamous gang enforcer who takes the fall for the murder of his boss at the hands of another member. When his fabled nickname is subject to use by another gang member, he resurfaces only to face reprisal by his gang when they kidnap his daughter in a desperate attempt to cover up the deadly incident from a decade earlier.
The film took par in the Asian Contents And Film Market at last year’s Busan International Film Festival, and is currently slated for a May 25 release in South Korea. Check out both the long and shortform trailers below and a subsequent poster.
