New Line’s 1991 sci-fi thriller The Guyver is set to arrive on multiple disc formats on June 25 from Unearthed Films. The film is led by actors Jack Armstrong, Vivian Wu, and Mark Hamill, and directed by Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang from a script by Jon Purdy.
Produced by Brian Yuzna, The Guyver is the first of two current live-action adaptations based on Yoshiki Takaya’s classic 80s manga. The movie centers on Sean (Armstrong), a teenager accidentally bonded with the mysterious device that transforms him into a superpowered alien hunter. As he struggles to cope with his newfound abilities, he and girlfriend Mizuki (Wu) are soon thrust into a deadly conspiracy – one that pulls back the curtain on the dark machinations of Chronos Corporation and its cohorts, the Zoanoids.
The Guyver also stars Jimmie ‘JJ’ Walker, Michael Berryman, and David Gale.
