Fancy some sweeping wuxia visuals from the mainland? Director Qiao Lei’s latest collaboration with Lu Yang (Brotherhood Of Blades 1 & 2, A Writer’s Odyssey) now brings us a look at The Hidden Fox, inspired by the works of late author Jin Yong who passed away in 2018.
Ten years ago, in order to snatch the mysterious treasure left by Dashing King Li Zicheng, the wicked designed a decisive battle between the hero Miao Renfeng and the treasure guardian Hu. Hu and Miao died tragically, but the treasure map disappeared. In ten years, they have never given up the search for treasure. Finally, the treasure map reappeared, and the eight evil men gathered together and set off to Feihu Mountain…
Details are sketchy about the film’s inspiration depending on which webpages you look at, but production began on the pic last January with plans to release later in 2021. Clearly things have changed and a quiet delay of the film now sees its teaser resurfacing ahead of its iQIYI release undoubtedly this year.
The Hidden Fox stars Zhao Huawei, Chen Yusi (Mojin: The Worm Valley), Ray Lui (Raging Fire), Chunyu Shan Shan (Water Margin Heroes 1 & 2) and Chen Zi Han (Snake 3: Water Vs. Python) among others.
