THE HIT LIST: August 13, 2018

My weekend was a slow one, but I’m happy to have kept my mind a little busy with some posting. Season seven of Voltron: Legendary Defender was absolutely stellar and I can’t wait to see how the final season bookends such a virbrant, energizing sci-fi tale.

At any rate, it’s time to get things started here for another round of Hit List items and for this, we turn to another nifty playlist of stunt reels and demos to stimulate the nerves starting with Andy Le in a sheer display of weapons-variety performance by way of Martial Club. Following reels thereafter come from Ikeda Ai, Bruce Nachsin, Jack Ramie, Lynne Orloff, Thomas Watson, Niko Bogucki, Daria Drobotova, Yavuz Topuz, Katie Letien, Wilson Sze and Kami Bruder.

As for promotional gems this week, I just want to congratulate actor and filmmaker Shahbaz Sarwar and his collective for a successful crowdfunding campaign for Shrouded Destiny: A Star Wars Long Tale. The project is a hopeful pilot for the Danish creative who unveiled a six-month proof of concept Sarwar hopes to bring to Disney, showcasing at least one end of his inspired long tale starring opposite action actress Laûren Okadigbo.

You’re more than welcome to click the image above to check it out with links to the official Facebook page where Sarwar is making clear his vision on a periodic basis with updates on casting and progress. Following that is an isloated cut of the official trailer for Chase and Cane Armitage’s new high-energy Matrix fan film, Rise Of Smith, starring fellow “3Runner”, actor Adam Brashaw, a promo for recording artists to help score the action for JA Crooms’ new Marrese Crump webseries vehicle, Cash, the official trailer for Jerry Lim’s latest action comedy series, Dead Lucky – premiering this Thursday via the Toggle app and on the JUO Productions YouTube channel later this week, and the official trailer for Kyle Wong’s newest action crime thriller from his Black Ice 140 indie banner, The Line.

Independent action and laughs kick off the final playlist of fights and films this week firstly with Jefferson Lewis III’s How To Set Your Boy Up For Failure. Xavier Luo and Luis Fernandez get their fight practice on with Kawui Joa as does Gabriel Ruan and for Alain Bui behind the lens, as well as PeiPei Alena Yuan as she “sticks it” to Shaun Charney at Dragon Phoenix Entertainment.

Anthony Javier battles circa 1970 Shaw Bros. with Donald Nguyen for the fate of dinner in the award-winning 48 Hr. Film Fest entry, Got Rice? while Hayden Lam deals with a Stalker – also starring Dan Masterson and Charlit Daecharkhom, and freerunner Dominic Di Tomasso aids Batman’s efforts to fend off the Joker as he traverses through the newly-launched Warner Bros. World in Abu Dhabi for the Devin Supertramp channel.

Actor and martial artist Prateek Parmar unleashes his Raging Fist with the premiere of episode one followed by Nathan Barris whose newest culmination of ideas land Cape Town, South Africa as Ground Zero for Filip Ciprian Florian’s quest for vengeance in Unstoppable, and director Chrisropher Sheffield and actress Heather Sims make good on their latest DC-inspired Gotham Nights fan series continuation with Batgirl & Robin: Saturday Night In Gotham – Part 1, also starring Jordan Graham and Richard Lillard.

Rounding out the playlist is a shortfilm from last December that bodes as one of the most emotive drama projects I’ve seen from actress and filmmaker Gabriella Corvina’s Youtube channel. Bringing Her Up is the name and with a premise that implores one to take aim and not only hit back, but hit hard at life’s trepidating hurdles and setbacks. Corvina directs as well as stars with co-director/producer Eddie Valentino, and with young actress Evys Pina also starring and inspiring the heck out of the rest of us in her wake.

Enjoy the hits!
