THE HIT LIST: November 12, 2018

It’s a Saturday as I’m writing all of this and putting it together, so take in my pre-dated cohesive grammar skills because by Sunday, if I’m writing, I’ll be dead tired AF.

Alas, another week of exciting action, stunt and indie cinema from around the web awaits for our return to The Hit List, and as always, we begin with another round of stunt, training and demo reels from some of today’s top professionals and up-and-comers.

We begin with a training montage shot in the confines of Temujin Shirzada‘s Golden Horde Stunt Workshop, followed by stunt reels featuring Ivy Haralson, Eric Shamm Watson, Amanda Voll, Angel Flores, Niahlah Hope, Thomas Watson, Alyson Pickett, Kevin Rego, Nilo Ghajar-Williams, Timothy Kittelstad, Lynhthy Nguyen, Stephen Bravler, Katja Hopkins, and Josh Madison.

The playlist bookends with two distinctively amazing reels from Godefroy Ryckewaert showcasing his ample packaging of direction and cinematography, followed by an entre of ensemble goods from the ever-involved, respected and hungry fight choreography, coordination and pre-vizual stylings of Vlad Rimburg.

Red Rising marks the latest from the creatives at Team Red whose own Joseph Le has one other Hit List entry we’ll get to later. The teaser for that project birthed in collusion with Leroy Nguyen’s Rising Tiger banner is in the playlist below, just after the trailer for Marques Zaror’s Little Ruby Red Riding Hood, and Dani Medina‘s Michael Jackson-inspired practice fight teaser.

It’s time to get to the fight and film goods and firstly with Vimeo entries by Stephen Koepfer with Antonio Robert Cortez and Johnny X Wang, and some rapier kills and thrills from Robert Bennett and performances by Chloe Baldwin and Raker Wilson.

The subsequent YouTube playlist invites some more practice fight work with Courtney Chen and Lazlow Spencer, Team Red’s own Joseph Le throwing in some practice bits with Cina McKenna and Nancy Kimiyo, helmer George Karja’s latest group throwdown for the fall guys of Madrid-based LK Stunt Team, Alexey Minaev’s recent group practice outing from Dragon Brothers, Lee Valley Showdown from Tien Hoang and Renato Gjini, Erica Mungor and Angelica Naia Gabor in a new “Pit Sessions” piece from Ballistic Blade Entertainment, Brett Solomano’s thrilling new short performance in The Last Job with Jason Elwood Hanna and Dave Cutler, Myles Evans’ Sweet Tooth with Bridgette Bentley and Norman James, Omar Zaki’s turn at being Spider-Man a la PS4, Sangai Films’ reverent martial arts shortfilm debut with sword-clasing thrills in Khangsunaha, and the aforementioned Joseph Le’s long-awaited and immediate UASE 2018 favorite, Pokémon Kung Fu, from director, co-star and VFX artist Tim Wang.

Rounding out the playlist is the much-hyped and multi-winning shortfilm action opus, Night Shift, from John Balazs who is officially in tow with a growing slate of feature films over at his Prima Lux banner. Adele Elasmar, Stephen Degenaro and Liz Conrado star.

Enjoy the hits!
