Apart from working on The Hit List and other content, Bleach pretty much took the brunt of my attention over the weekend and I have no regrets. I love that movie to bits.
As for all else, new action and stunt demo and performance reels are here and we begin with an entry from UK-based Saskia Allen via Vimeo, followed by a playlist this week featuring a remix from Amy Sturdivant, reels from Andrew Long, Joseph Oreste, Kamen Casey, Lauren Pugh, Bryan Vigier, Andrew Stanton, Bryan Dodds, and a roaring medley host to Amy Johnson!
This week’s promotional bits are down to three this week starting with an official trailer for upcoming 2019 G.I. Joe fan film, Crimson Archer, from Trendsetter Productions, followed by the first official trailer for Anthony Javier’s new action drama, The Kill-Shot, from Flipkick Films.
Beneath that is the latest teaser for an upcoming fan film based on The Crow from director and fight choreographer Chad Cramer who will also get some screentime as vicious crimelord, Top Dollar. Stunt performer Nik Nieves will star in the title role.
The best part is finally here and we begin with a rooftop practice fight from Bryan Vigier and Maureen Lavoyer, and some Vlad Rimburg-inspired practice fight from Kyle Wavebourne featuring Ricky Barksdale and the unstoppable Jenna Hellmuth.
Next up is the mother-of-all-crazy-batshit spoofs you’ll ever see of its kind with Martial Club’s Brian Le going full tilt on The Nun in the most goddamn Brian Le way you could possibly imagine, and trust when I say that I am very sure he hasn’t even gotten started.
Following that is Johann Mynhardt at the helm of the first of three MMA action practice shorts – one with Grant Powell and François Groenewald, the second from M2I Stunts’ own Matt Philliben, and one clearly themed in the vein of Flashpoint to an extent from performers Jeong Sung-Ho and A. Dope.
Claire Hoogenboom keeps the momentum going in her date night battle against the occult with Trevor Morgan and Cameron Early. A pair of twofers follow after, firstly from Action Academy’s Emin Abishov in Barrier, starring along with Tural Khalilli and Aytac Aliyeva, and Wendy Lam and Cassie Lee Minick comprising the poetic narrative disseminated in the dramatic action miniseries, The Slavery Of Freedom from Dragon Phoenix Entertainment.
Troy Butler and Branden Arnold fight off their sugar high in a Friday parody for Fight Scene Machine while Chris Olson deals with awakward timing opposite Adam Chase in a fight piece helmed by Ken Do, and Michael Lehr enters back into the spotlight with a re-uplaod of 2015 short, Kill, with Narayan Cabral and Oscar Leiva.
Chris Pang and Osric Chau shepherd the long-enduring rivalry in a dramatic fan fight attributed to anime ninja saga, Naruto, from director Mikey Murphy at RE: ANIME, and Ryan Poole takes his fight to a contemporary setting to save Hyrule in Corridor Digital’s Urban Zelda.
Last and far from least is an encore presentation of Christopher Sheffield’s recent successes with the Gotham Nights series focused on the adventures of Batgirl. It’s also a necessary reshare as both Sheffield and his star, actress Heather Wake have taken to the internet over the weekend on Batman Day this past Saturday to make their case here AND here for more virility when Sheffield officially releases his next installment. Alas, this is me doing my part.
