THE HIT LIST: September 2, 2019

Courtesy of KingLion ST

Saturday was my “rest day” so to speak. The evening that followed was amazing, while I spent the bulk of my Sunday fighting my desire to slack off. I think I won? Maybe?

Anyway, another two weeks have past and so it must be, another installment of The Hit List has arrived home to more servings of amazing feats of stunt and independent film fighting and performance from some of today’s strongest talents.

Evelyn Osorio Vaccaro and Paul Varacchi tune us in to their new reels for the week prior to a playlist a la YouTube comprising entries from Somnang Chay, Chuck Johnson, Hai Le, Dominic Cancelliere, Nadia Lorencz, Chien Escalera Duong, David Miller, Shawn Robidoux, Bryan Vigier, Nina Nightingale, Trenton Rostedt, Ricky Coston, Kara Petersen, Patrick Stayer, Eric Fuchs and Connor Cross, followed by extended reels from Cassandra Ebner, Christine Hillary Lee, and action and stunt choreography reels by Dani Medina and by Mars Action Group from Ron Balicki and Diana Lee Inosanto.

As far as trailers go, we’ve already got plenty to spare from a sampling of what lies ahead specifically at this year’s seventh UASE. Going forward, that also includes R4 Films LLC with action shorts The Man From Tijuana and Final Contact: Episode III. Both projects will get advanced screenings this Friday at The Museum Of The Moving Image as part of the Fist & Sword series with Samuel in attendance, and you can learn more about that by clicking here. Third and last in the playlist is a promo for a sweet little something fresh out of South Africa with Spec Ops: Vengeance from Grant Powell.

The shortfilm-fighting is aplenty and ends on a high note with a playlist that sees Elizabeth Cotter and Dana Morgan trade fisticuffs courtesy of Dylan Hintz. Following that is Nick Khan clashing metal with Craig Canning for a new vid of their own while is Jennifer Zhang throws down opposite Marc Morriseau in Berserker, David Miller and Stefan Shulz explore some lightsaber VFX action, and Liana Ramirez’s YouTube channel introduces part one of indie mini webseries, Runaways.

The playlist continues onward to the land down under for Fight Night from Stunt Gym while Stephanie Pham drinks up a much-needed boost in her latest from Joey Min at Art School Dropouts, Mark Joshua Bahian and Cyril Senseng make their case in The Hunt, Prateek Parmar plays a little soccer with Indian footballer Archis Patil and Godefroy Ryckewaert returns to The Hit List in quality, comedic fashion with Chipolice.

Ermias Baraki assures himself a place in The Hit List with a re-entry of Writer’s Block, and another offering of Kung Fu Granny with the aforementioned Christine Hillary Lee, another from Urban Ninjaz this time asking What Protection Money?, and Martial Club with another gonzo, kung fu-loaded horror tribute spawned by Brian Le and Jackie Tran for It: Chapter Two.

Finishing it all out is a full hour and some change host to a decade of online indie action history pouring from the digital catalogue of filmmaker Micah Brock and his Whirlwind Action banner. That one’s a sit-back-and-relax kind of video, so without further ado, enjoy the hits!
