Capelight Pictures is heading up its German blu-ray release in May in two editions, including a two-disc 4K UHD/Blu-Ray package loaded with special features and a media book, and more.

Produced by Wayne A. Graves and penned by Clarkson and co-scribe Sean David Lowe, The Last Kumite joins Mathis Landwehr with a bevy of martial artists and genre stars on screen including Kurt McKinney, Matthias Hues, Billy Blanks, and Cynthia Rothrock. A director’s cut is also in toe while Capelight slates a U.S. rollout this summer in association with MPI Home Video.

Read on below, and click to visit Capelight’s page to pre-order the European disc releases, and be mindful of region coding as well, because that’s definitely still a thing.

Available from May 16, 2024 as a 2-Disc Limited Collector’s Edition in the UHD Mediabook (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) and as a 2-Disc Limited SteelBook (UHD Blu-ray + Blu-ray).

After karate champion Michael Rivers (Mathis Landwehr) wins the last tournament of his career, shady businessman Ron Hall (Matthias Hues) offers him to compete in an illegal, deadly kumite in Bulgaria against the best martial artists in the world. Michael refuses, but quickly regrets the decision when he learns that his daughter Bree has been kidnapped and that he can only save her by taking part in kumite. When he arrives in Bulgaria, he finds out that he is not the only fighter who has been forced to participate by the kidnapping of a loved one. To defeat the undefeated kumite champion Dracko, Michael trains relentlessly with Master Loren (Billy Blanks) and Dracko’s former sensei Julie Jackson (Cynthia Rothrock). But will it be enough to win the kumite and free Bree?

Director and cinematographer Ross W. Clarkson (“Undisputed 2”, “Undisputed 3”) and stunt coordinator Mike Möller (“Matrix Resurrections”, “Resident Evil”) reunite some of the most famous martial arts stars of the ’80s, including Cynthia Rothrock (” China O’Brien”), Kurt McKinney (“Karate Tiger”), Billy Blanks (“Karate Tiger 5 – King of the Kickboxers”), Matthias Hues (“Kickboxer 2 – The Champ Returns”) and Mohammed “Michel” Qissi ( “Bloodsport – A True Skilled One”, “Karate Tiger 3 – The Kickboxer”). Co-writer and executive producer Sean David Lowe’s Kickstarter-funded martial arts passion project has garnered enthusiastic responses from fans of retro martial arts films around the world.”
