THE LEGEND OF MAULA JATT Chops Away At New Poster Art For Bilal Lashari’s Ambitious Pakistani Action Epic

Waar helmer Bilal Lashari is back with his brand new action epic, The Legend Of Maula Jatt. Well, actually, the film has been ready to go for some time now as it’s been hailed as one of the biggest-budgeted Pakistani films in the country’s history. Imaginably though, its previous legalities and the pandemic were imminent factors to weigh in until recently.

Fast forward to 2022 and with this and the events of the last decade or so out of the way now comes word of the film’s newly stamped October 13 release in Pakistan from Mandviwalla Entertainment with Moviegoers Entertainment overseeing its release in other territories. We also have a brand new poster now making the rounds, which you can check out just above from Encyclomedia

Via Rama Namachandran’s Variety exclusive on Wednesday:

Mandvivalla said: “It is our immense pleasure to become a part of the most ambitious project from Pakistan, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt,’ an Encyclomedia and Lashari Films production. Releasing the spectacular ‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’ is not only going to be challenging but is also perceived to create a milestone in the history of Pakistani cinema.”

Fawad Khan said: “It gives me immense pleasure and is an honor to play the role of the legendry Maula Jatt. It was an absolute joy working with the team. I wish us all the very best of luck to all and I hope the audience enjoys it as much as I enjoyed during the making.”

The Legend Of Maula Jatt is a reimagining of a 1979 gandasa cult classic. The latest version features the title character played by actor Fawad Khan, who recently made his Marvel Studios debut as the great grandfather to the title heroine in Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel.

Khan headlines a cast with Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick and Hamza Ali Abbasi, for the story of a local hero who faces off with a brutal gang leader as he plunders and terrorizes his village in pre-colonial Punjab. The film also stars Ali Azmat, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyer Ejaz and Saima Baloch.

The film has had a trailer since December of 2018 which is still about as good as you might expect, and we’ll be damn sure to keep an eye out for any new promotional goods as the days pass. Peep the trailer, ICYMI, and read more at Variety.
