THE OFFER (MINISERIE) Review: The Struggling Making of a Classic

The Godfather is one of the largest most acclaimed films of all time, a long deserved praise that has lured moviegoers of different generations to the darkness of a movie screen to accept a cinematic lifechanging offer that they could not refuse.

This year marks the 50th anniversary since the release of the film, and as all this type of movies that transcends the boundaries of entertainment, the stories and the legends surrounding the proccess of the making of these iconic features, are larger as the movies itself.

Based on Albert S. Ruddy´s recollections of the chaotic making of The Godfather (producer of the film and also producer of the show) this latest Paramount+ limited series brings the audience through a ten-episodes journey to a far distant hollywood where movies were forged by crazy men with impossible visions that helped to build the romantic idea of Hollywood that has come to the collective mind these days. The show goes deep into the story behind the proccess of the making of the film, perfectly recreating the setting of the epoque, and the struggles the production suffered with the run-in with the mafia they have to endured, when mobsters turned against the making of the film since the very beginning

The limits between fact and fiction are hard to tell on this type of productions, some of the events narrated in The Offer seems hard to believe, other are in the collective belief around the mysthic of the movie, but overall the show depicts honesty on its narration of the tale, managing to display on the screen a really faithful representation of the popular figures involved into the project such as Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino, or even Marlon Brando, among many others. Spoil more of these kind of details to the readers insterested watching the show would ruin their experience

The series premiered on April 28, 2022, on Paramount+, and ran 10 episodes through June 16.
