A chinese Tokusatsu film that pays homage to a classic tokusatsu from the 70´s, “Dinosaur Sentai Koseidon”, an endearing TV show, that was really popular in China back in the day, in which our protagonists traveled through time to prehistory, coexisting with dinosaurs, and fighting different kind of villains. A typical japanese tokusatsu show from that era, full of models and precarious special effects but with so much charming.

The plot of the film takes place in a distant hopeless future, in which a lethal virus (Cinema again resembling to real world)  has turned mankind into zombies, in that moment of crisis in which nobody remembers cinema or TV shows, a hero from the past is our only hope.

Taking advantage of the zombies revival that we are living recently in cinema and television, the director John Moo (don´t confuse with John Woo) delivers a thrilling action film, in which our hero makes his triumphant entrances, listening the main theme of the original show in his old walkman (Our youngster readers probably don´t know what I´m talking about), while he fights zombies in brutal fight sequences, in which they even dared to rip off the soundtrack of “The Dark Knight” (2008). But let´s keep the secret…

But the film is not merely a zombies slaughtering entertainment, and some interesting subplots are added to the story, keeping it interesting until the very end. Although that its main intention is to relive Kesai´s past glory as superhero, the film goes beyond of being a simple homage, mantaining its own personality, mixing many different genres, that ranges from comedy to drama, keeping a good balance between them.

A better entertainment that looks at first sight, that reminds us all the importance of our heroes from childhoold to find inspiration and overcome the hardships of life.
