THE RIDGE: Billy Magnussen Debut Directs Survival Thriller Later This Year, Highland Launching Sales At Cannes

Actor Billy Magnussen (Game Night, Aladdin, No Time to Die, Bridge of Spies) will star in The Ridge, a new survival thriller rolling cameras in the U.S. later this year. Highland Film Group will launch international sales at the Marché du Film, with CAA representing domestic.

Magnussen will also debut direct the pic from a script he storied with screenwriters Mike Anderson and John Clavier, who penned the pic with Will Lowell. He will play Grady, billed as a “true outdoorsman” and brother to the fiancé of sensitive city dweller, Dez, played by Lamorne Morris (FX’s “Fargo,” Hulu’s “Woke”).

When Dez flies out to Wyoming along with his friends to meet the family, Dez is put to the test by Grady, setting the two men at odds with one another, and they engage in an explosive feud that causes their truck to crash and tumble from a ridge. Leaving the men injured in the wilderness and fighting against the harsh elements, they must set aside their differences and band together in order to make it out alive.

Rounding out the cast are Chace Crawford (Amazon’s “The Boys,” CW’s “Gossip Girl”) and Jordan Firstman (Netflix’s You People, Sebastián Silva’s Rotting in the Sun). Jason Michael Berman and Jordan Moldo from Mandalay Pictures (Ben Affleck’s Air) and Magnussen from HappyBad Bungalow, are producing in association with BRON. Highland’s Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier will exec produce next to Shane Andries and Anne Hollister from HappyBad Bungalow, Jared Kramer and BRON’s Aaron Gilbert.

“Having spent years in front of the camera, I’m thrilled to be bringing everything I’ve learned to the table as I direct this project which is close to my heart, alongside the great group of people over at Mandalay Pictures and Highland Film Group,” noted Magnussen.

“The Ridge is an intense and suspenseful survival thriller with a great ensemble cast led by Billy Magnussen, who will brilliantly capture tension between the rugged outdoorsman and the urbanite as they struggle for their life in the brutal wilderness,” said Highland Film Group CEO Fraser.

“We are thrilled to be working with producers Jason Berman and Jordan Moldo who have a proven track record are the guiding force behind such films as Air starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck,” added Highland Film Group COO Perrier.

Magnussen is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern; Morris is repped by Entertainment 360, CAA and Myman Greenspan; Crawford is repped by CAA, Relevant and Gretchen Rush; Firstman is repped by WME, All My Friends Inc. and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
