THE STRANGER: John DeVries’s South African Western Conceptual Proof Quick Draws A Teaser

At some point from now into the near future, South African director John DeVries will hopefully have more to offer for his recent endeavor, The Stranger. For now, his conceptual shortfilm proof is on track for 2020, and there’s a teaser and poster to boot as well, marking his latest effort from his independent TH Films banner.

Provided the necessary partnerships, financing and overall support is there, The Stranger will also lend itself as the prospective feature title. DeVries directs from his own script which is set during the Second Boer War in South Africa, and “follows a British officer who, being disillusioned by the atrocities committed on the civilian population, decides to turn on his comrades and join the ragtag Boer fighters resisting the colonial forces.”

The Stranger stars Greg Kriek, Christine Amalia Tesco and Max Immelman, and is produced by Kriek and DeVries with stunt coordinator DeVille Vannik producing, and with James Matthes and Simon Radcliffe exec producing. Big nod to Mr. Vannik for sending me the news tip along with the assets!
