The first official trailer is now online for director Ardiansah Sulistiana’s new martial arts thriller, The Tiger. The film is currently set to screen before audiences early next month for the Indonesian Screen Awards section of the 20th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival.
In a West Javanese village, Raka, a chili trader, accidentally sparks a conflict with the hot-tempered Dirga. Cornered in a fight, Raka unleashes an extraordinary silat style, resembling a tiger, a secret family tradition known as Pamacan. The viral video of his power attracts Koswara, a feared warrior determined to claim the legacy. With his men, Koswara terrorizes Raka’s family, forcing him to protect their honor and heritage. Guided by his wise father Abah, Raka learns to master his strength while facing relentless threats. The Tiger is a tale of honor, tradition, and the fight to safeguard cultural legacy.
The Tiger stars Cecep Arif Rahman and Epy Kusandar and was first introduced to last year’s inaugural JAFF Market. Rounding out the cast are Faris Fadjar Munggaran, Donna Wardana, Reza Hilman, Fiolina Teja, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, and Santi Denny, from a script by Aris Nugraha who also produces.
A rough promo was revealed earlier this month ahead of its JAFF screening. That footage is now offline and as predicted, a polished asset is out and about. Rahman, known especially for lighting up the screen as Iko Uwais’s combative match in The Raid 2, is given a little more screentime in the storied summary opposite Kusandar in the villain role, coupled aplenty with the film’s signature stylish martial arts thrills.
