It’s been five years since actor Da Peng’s Jian Bing Man put him on my radar. I’ve yet to see that one as it was never granted the legit U.S. release it was announced for, though the actor himself has managed to maintain his trajectory some.
The Journey To The West 2 and Vortex actor’s return to the big screen now brings us The Winners, opening next month in China. Peng plays Yanjin, an earnest and vexatious bank worker whose whose latest branch assignment has his co-workers training in robbery prepardness, and him, training to be a real bank robber for that reason.
The trailer above isn’t English-subbed in the least, so site contributor Yi Christina Liu gave it a go and found it to be pretty enticing. She even pulled the last line of the trailer which reads as English in the following:
“All our police are hungry and you dare to order hot pot delivery!”
I think this caps off the general idea of what to expect with the brand of comedy Peng tends to deliver. Also starring are actresses Dai Lele and Ada, and actors Tian Yu and Zhang Zi Xian for a February 21 release.
