THE WITCHER Returns to Netflix and a World Changed by War

Gamers and fans of fantasy novels alike are no stranger to Geralt of Rivia and the world of The Witcher. Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels found international success after well known game developers CD Projekt Red released their series of 3rd person action games set in the world, and propelled it’s protagonist to gaming stardom. Netflix would end up acquiring the license for the books to create it’s hit drama series, which has already been confirmed for a third season as of September 2021.

Scheduled for release December 17th and remaining exclusive to the platform, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Enola Holmes) plays protagonist Geralt, a monster hunter called a Witcher. Armed with spells and steel, we rejoin Geralt after he reconnects with Princess Ciri, whom is linked to Geralt by fate, even before her birth. However, we do not rejoin the world as it was at the end of season one.

“Something has changed, Geralt” are the first words we hear, followed soon by images of monsters, war, and death. Geralt must rally his allies to meet new threats, but as the trailer will remind us, “Destiny is a beast.”

Alongside Cavill stars Saturn Award nominee Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, a sorceress and lover of Geralt. Watch the trailer below!
