THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD: The Heat Is On In The Official Trailer For Taylor Sheridan’s Searing New Crime Thriller
If there’s anything you can take away from the last five years or so when it comes to Taylor Sheridan, it’s that there’s a reason he’s gotten to work with directors like David Mackenzie and Denis Villeneuve. Sheridan’s potential bodes with nothing short of kept promise that can only be sampled in his work, including Sheridan’s own 2017 debut, Wind River, a compelling and brutal view into the reservation which saw an FBI agent and a wildlife officer on the hunt for an elusive killer.
That film purely thrusts you into an intense and thrilling neo-noir on the western frontier with chilling and violent results, and serves as a high mark for a first time director who’s also just as good on-screen as he is off, in addition to his recent television credits on Yellowstone. His momentum continues this year following suit with screenwriting credits for upcoming Amazon release, Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse from director Stefano Sollima, as it does accordingly with his newest feature directing effort, Those Who Wish Me Dead, from a script he wrote with Charles Leavitt and Michael Kortya, the latter whose titular novel serves as the basis for the film.
The official trailer now running online introduces Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie in the role of Hannah, a smoke jumper still reeling from the loss of three lives she failed to save from a fire when she comes across a traumatized 12-year-old boy with nowhere else to turn. Surely enough, the trailer reveals just who and what it is the young boy is running from, and it sets up an exciting and high-octane story that looks wholly worth checking out when it opens this summer.
Rounding out the cast are Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” films), Finn Little (“Reckoning”), Aiden Gillen (“Game of Thrones,” “Peaky Blinders”), Medina Senghore (“Happy!”), Tyler Perry (“Vice,” “Gone Girl”), Jake Weber (“Midway,” “Homeland”), and Jon Bernthal (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Wind River”). Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film theatrically on May 14, in simultaneous capacity with HBO Max’s same-day premiere slate for 31 days at no extra cost to subscribers.
