TRACED: Ultra-Violent Sunny Pang Thriller Hits The Virtual Cannes Market This Sunday [EXCLUSIVE]

Steadfast and unabashed, director Ranjeet S. Marwa will be in good company with producer Djonny Chen they unveil their slate from Silent D Pictures and Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures, Ltd. on Sunday.

Their primary focus at the forefront will be Traced, which currently has new mock-up sales art now making the rounds. The film features Singaporean actor Sunny Pang (Headshot, The Night Comes For Us), with more to be announced in the days ahead.

Following our report on June 2, we now have an official logline that reads as follows: “After being locked in prison for three years, Noble must find the people responsible for his incarceration. However, revenge is not always the answer, redemption is.”

A deeper insight into the film elucidates themes such as family, betrayal and redemption, with tones akin to the ultra-violent cinematic works of filmmakers like Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes For Us), Park Chan-wook (Old Boy) and Gareth Evans (The Raid, Apostle, Gangs Of London).

“This is a movie that is going
to be something special.” says Chen. “Fortunately for us, Cannes has taken interest in the project and it will be showcased at the world famous Cannes Film Festival Markets (Marché du Film).”

“I have always been inspired by Old Boy and was fortunate enough for this script to land on my lap.” adds Marwa. “It mixes violent prison drama with asian extreme cinema. It was almost like a dream project for me. Now that Cannes have taken interest, it cements the fact that we are on the right path and making the right decisions, especially having Sunny Pang on board. His skills not only as a fighter but an actor too are something that will elevate the project.”

Movement on Traced comes in the wake of scaling back production on ambitious action horror, Blood Rush, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That project is set to launch possibly in early 2021.

Marwa is also in tow with new documentary, Covid-19: The Impact On Asian Cinema, with central input by Sunny Pang, Oka Antara and stunt professional Nick Blade Khan, slated to release on Amazon Prime in the coming months.
