The series created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) was a pleasant surprise for audience and critic on its first season for its undeniable high quality standards.
Tulsa King took up the baton from other popular series set in the underworld such as “The Sopranos” or even the underrated “Boardwalk Empire” Bringing to the screen an ingenious gangster story set in an unusual setting, with a brilliantly crafted script, and characters that work perfectly as a counterpart to the main character of the plot.
Sylvester Stallone, in his first leading television role, plays a veteran NY gangster who has fallen on hard times, ending up in Tulsa where he begins to expand a new criminal empire.
After some controversies in which the actor was accused of belittling some extras during filming, the shooting of this second season went ahead ignoring all those accusations that always end up dying on the tabloid boards where they begin to spread for a few days, until being replaced by other sensational news. Whatever the case, the important thing is that this new season is finally set to return, bringing the story back to exactly where the first season left off.
“Dwight and his crew continue to build up and defend their growing empire in Tulsa, but just as they get their bearings, they realize that they’re not the only ones who want to stake their claim. With looming threats from the Kansas City mob and a very powerful local businessman, Dwight struggles to keep his family and crew safe while keeping track of all his affairs. Plus, he still has unfinished business back in New York.”
Tulsa King returns to Paramount+ on September 15.
