Fans of South Korean crime and action loaded with the usual serving of beat-em-up thrills will have something handy in November. Formerly titled Faceless Boss, director Park Ki-hyung’s Unalterable is ripe for the occasion with Chun Jung-myung starring opposite Jin Yi-han in his first role since appearing in 2010 pic, Breakaway.
Unalterable is described as an gangster noir; there isn’t much available in English to refer to, but what I’ve translated via Google seems to cast Chun in the role of Sang-gon, a gangster swept by his own dangerous ambitions whilst rising in the ranks in the criminal underworld:
Could we have been happy if we hadn’t done it?
With the intention of being a cool man, I will be able to live my life.
‘Sangon’ resigned his betrayed senior and finally reached the position of boss. However, he made a stigma of juniors who gave up their seniors.
I swear loyalty to my brothers
I dream of happiness with her who loves me more than life
Here in hell, the romance of the hunters looks like luxury.
In the betrayal and entanglement of the conspiracy where the ghosts were involved
Sangon is in danger of losing more and more. What did he want to keep to the end?
I should also note this film has been a long time coming with teaser posters finally rolling out with 2018-stamped release dates, which could also factor in why several websites list aforementioned director Park while others like Daum suggest it’s Song Chang-yong at the helm.
Whatever the case, I’ll get the right one in due time. Meanwhile, I could get behind this. Whatever this is. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more as time rolls on.
