It’s been five years since a live-action adaptation was announced bringing Toshio Sako’s longstanding manga, Usogui, to the big screen. For those otherwise keeping score, fans looking forward to the pic hailing from Warner Bros. Japan got their first glimpse of what it will look like with actor Ryusei Yokohama (Your Eyes Tell) front and center of some serious John Wick: Chapter Two vibes.
So what’s the big deal here for the latest from director Hideo Nakata (Ring franchise, Sadako)? Well, the story follows Yokohama in the role of Baku Madarame – a.k.a. The Lie Eater – a mysterious gambler dispensing his own brand of justice against dishonest players, who takes his trade to the underworld’s top illegal gambling den, Club Kakerou, and you can definitely guess there’s more to the story if the poster below any clue.
