VALENTINE: Shout! Falls In Love With Indonesian Superhero Adaptation Starring Estelle Linden

A glimpse at some of the EFM buzz titles published this week at Screendaily are aloft with some excting offerings. Indonesian superhero thriller, Valentine is no exception as obscure as the film has been since having its release held back for more than a year prior to its short-lived theatrical run in November of 2017.

Whatever the case may be now, the film at least gained a footing in the market scene when UK international sales outfit, Carnaby, acquired the rights last May. That, in turn, now brings news of the Ubay Fox/Agus Pesto-directed actioner’s North American landing at Shout! Studios, so expect this one to hit the blu-ray internets in due time.

The beautiful city of Batavia has been infested with robbery and violence. When ‘Srimaya’, a café waitress meets a film director and his friend, they take her on a dangerous adventure full of thrilling action as a local vigilante, transforming her from an ordinary girl into a Batavia City heroine of hope – ‘Valentine’.

Valentine is based on Skylar Comics’ 2014 publication created by Aswin MC Siregar and exec producer Sarjono Sutrisno, and stars Dutch/Javanese Estelle Linden who reportedly scored the role fresh out of high school as pre-production was underway in 2015. Linden also trained aptly for the role with several trainers, including Fox who coordinated stunts for local Toku series, Bima: Satria Garuda.

Joining in the cast with Linden are Matthew Settle and Arie Dagienkz. The film is also produced by Helfi Kardit who also shares writing and directing credits of his own, including 10: The Secret Mission which is also out now in the U.S. from Cinema Epoch.

Follow Shout! and keep an ear out for some direct news from the company on its release!
