YASUKE: DESCENDANTS Teaser Pits Centuries-Old Conflict In Present Day L.A.

YouTube Poster

Four years in the making since launching a crowdfunder, actor and director Calvert David Miles is finally down the home stretch with his latest inspired indie, Yasuke: Descendants. Miles took to social media teasing a March 2022 target release conciding with what we now have as a first look teaser for the modern-day samurai fantasy thriller inspired by the story of the first and only recorded samurai of African descent to serve Lord Nobunaga Oda in the 16th century.

That story, casting Miles alongside leads Gichi Gamba and Danielle Larracuente, transcends from its period roots to present-day Los Angeles where an FBI agent’s innocent family is suddenly caught in the crosshairs of a heated, generations-old rivalry between crime figures Phoenix and Ryo – respective descendants of both the legendary Yasuke, and Akechi Mitsuhide, the general who betrayed and murdered the daimyo centuries ago – when a mystical family heirloom goes missing.

Peep the teaser above and stay tuned for more info as this project picks up momentum.
