Your Next Viewing: WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS, Fanfare And Plenty Feels

If you are a horror fan, you likely have a favorite nostalgic film, something that may or may not stand up to the test of time, but it means something to you. The Monster Squad is one of those films for so many fans.

I spent this past weekend nostalgically re-watching The Monster Squad and then, thanks to our friends at Gravitas Ventures, I got to watch Wolfman’s Got Nards, a documentary focusing on the movie and its fandom.

Directed by Andre Gower, the documentary is something any fan of The Monster Squad would love. It includes clips from interviews with celebrities like Seth Green, Heather Langenkamp, Adam F. Goldberg and more, and goes into detail about how the film came to be written, its initial reception, the loss of Brent Chalem, and the revival of interest in the movie. There was so much that I did not know about the film that I had to watch it twice to make sure I soaked it all up.

As a writer I especially enjoyed the details on the movie’s creation and how open Fred Dekker was about his feelings on the film’s poor reception. To even think about putting so much work into one project and to go over fifteen years feeling it was unappreciated, that makes me sad. It’s okay though because if you’re a fan, you know that the movie did not just disappear, but is still around and very much appreciated!

If you’re a fan of the film or a writer/filmmaker yourself, this is a must-see!

Wolfman’s Got Nards is now available on streaming.
