The team behind the current Indiegogo campaign for female-fronted sci-fi action thriller, The Hunt: Savage Within, is announcing a thirty-day extension as of Wednesday. Initial crowdfunding for the project launched on July 21 before hitting a $4,000 milestone – less than half of the current goal which is $10,000, but still stipulates a considerable threshold for the project according to writer/director Fabien Garcia.

“As we’ve stated in our earlier messaging, every dollar counts, as does every share of our campaign to each of your circles and networks of friends and acquiantances.” he says. “This is progress, especially considering it has only been only a month, and so we invite you to take this amazing opportunity and share in the momentum, and help keep spreading the word until we reach our finish line.”

Garcia marks his hopeful sophomore debut at the helm with The Hunt: Savage Within, in an effort to crowdfund a big scale action sci-fi proof of concept with a female lead front and center to pitch to investors for an ambitious new feature. The plot takes its cues from classic blockbusters such Predator, The Terminator and The Thing, focusing on Sarah, a meek forest ranger who finds herself at the center of an epic battle between spec-ops soldiers, and a supreme alien killer known only as “The Trickster”.

Garcia is developing the project out of his Los Angeles-based Z-Team Films banner and is joined by producers Christine Gorchon, and Lohan Buson who also serves as VFX supervisor. Garcia and Buson have been hustling on the independent action front since their heyday as Beijing Wushu athletes and frontline members of The Z-Team dating back to the early 2000s.

Accredited for numerous shortfilms such as Duel, Brothers Forever, Drained World and their involvement with RobotUnderdog’s hit Dragon Ball Z: Light Of Hope fan film series, Garcia and Buson are best known for their 2014 cult martial arts action thriller, Die Fighting. Buson landed a key role as a fighting villain opposite breakout star Iko Uwais in the 2009 film, Merantau.
