ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE Official Trailer: The Bell Has Been Rung!
The past few weeks have been a little more eye-opening for me, personally – in particular, the experience derived from having just seen Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice – Ultimate Edition which is streaming on HBO Max. It’s just above three hours, and for what it’s worth, it’s a treatment that handedly lends more to the overall tapestry of what was supposed to be a more vast, theatrical cinematic universe of DC Comics adaptations that began with director Zack Snyder’s inceptive Man Of Steel in 2013.
And not for nothing either, apart from the hit-or-miss lay-up of DCEU movies out of Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema up to this point, along with the faltered finishing touch by long since-disgraced filmmaker Joss Whedon on 2017’s Justice League. While Patty Jenkins has successfully taken the reigns full-on with bringing Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to life between two standalone movies of her own ahead of a third now in the works, at the end of the day, it is Snyder who gets the brunt of the worship and support due to a vision teeming with potential shorthanded by a studio that clearly didn’t have its eye on the ball.
Alas, it is through the push of an unrelenting online community of fans supportive of Snyder’s work that the long-rumored director’s cut of the initial film will finally get its day next month on March 18 exclusively on HBO Max. Topped at four hours and returning the initial cast along with some new faces in the mix, the official trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League arrived on Valentine’s Day over the weekend, cramming just a little more of that the fans know and love about the lore and a lot of what they hope for in Snyder’s treatment of the DC property.
In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
Hat tip to reader Anthony G. Elias for keeping close to the pulse. He’s one of the biggest fans I know and I credit him for pushing me to watch BVS: Ultimate Edition in prep for what’s to come in the next several weeks. Sub to HBO Max now, folks!
