Zombie Thriller REDCON-1 Kills And Kills Again In The Latest Official Trailer
Having already seen its way through festivals and with a UK fall date approaching, tickets are now on sale for Underground helmer Chee Keong Cheong’s long awaited military zombie epic, Redcon-1. And it looks absolutely fucking bonkers.
A trailer actually went live last month and was actually in Taiwanese and so obviously it wouldn’t have come my way. Such is the nature of independent films with crazy PR handling and so you’re forgiven if you’d been waiting for trailer footage since the film’s production a few years ago.
As I said though… this looks fucking bonkers; Shots of undead creatures performing articulate gymastics and kicking techniques are things that you wouldn’t normally expect from a zombie film unless you were watching a award-winning certain turn-of-the-century action horror indie from Kitamura Ryuhei.
Alas, it’s definitely part of the narrative here though and it sells pretty well in the trailer, promising an albeit fun fiesta of action and gore, shepherded in part by starring actor Carlos Gallardo of El Mariachi fame, and by one-half the TMNT hivemind in Kevin Eastman, no less. Cheong is clearly going all-out and having some popcorn fun here.
After a zombie apocalypse spreads from a London prison, the UK is brought to its knees. The spread of the virus is temporarily contained but, without a cure, it’s only a matter of time before it breaks its boundaries and the biggest problem of all… any zombies with combat skills are now enhanced.
With the South East of England quarantined from the rest of the world using fortified borders, intelligence finds that the scientist responsible for the outbreak is alive and well in London. With his recovery being the only hope of a cure, a squad of eight Special Forces soldiers is sent on a suicide mission to the city, now ruled by the undead, with a single task: get him out alive within 72 hours by any means necessary. What emerges is an unlikely pairing on a course to save humanity against ever-rising odds.
Bursting with action, violence and a huge cast of zombies, Redcon-1 is a thrill-ride of a film that will leave you breathless with its take-no-prisoners approach.
Britflicks took the mantle on Thursday in presenting the official trailer once more with UK ticket availability which you can now access by clicking here as of Friday, August 10. Gallardo stars along with Oris Erhuero (Sometimes in April, The Cursed Ones), Mark Strange (Batman Begins, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man), Joshua Dickinson (Mirror), Akira Koieyama (Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist, Sense8), Katarina Waters (Karate Kill, Impact and former WWE wrestler) and Martyn Ford (Boyka: Undisputed IV, Final Score, Of Gods and Warriors).
