One Good Stab Deserves Another In The New Action Short, BATTLE OF THE BLADES!
Just yesterday I shared my most recent article on independent action short clips featuring weapons. Of course, it might have served well to package with that report but knowing me, I can never wait to get a lot of these clips out fast enough sometimes. But anyway, today I bring you the latest action short from independent filmmaker and action director Shaun Charney (a.k.a. Seshiro Kazama) titled Battle Of The Blades: Girlfight/Knifefight.
The new short features two gorgeous action and stunt performers I have mentioned on Film Combat Syndicate in previous articles: Peipei Alena Yuan (Star Trek, Step Up 3D) and Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez (The Adventures Of Superseven, Sons Of Anarchy). I spoke to both leading ladies who have nothing but positive words to express on their latest collaboration, including Yuan who tells Film Combat Syndicate. “Shaun Charney is always a blast to shoot with, and this was my first fight with Jubilee. I love her energy! She’s sassy and super HYPE and positive. Sexy, smart, creative, and strong. I would work with her again!” Yuan, who also helped contribute to the choreography, spoke a little bit about working with knives for this latest cinematic gem, adding “The knives were pretty fun to fight with, but still dangerous. And both of us got a couple bruises, from accidentally hitting each other’s hands. But altogether, we walked out of there without a scratch.”

“Working with Shaun and Peipei is an absolute trip,” Gonzalez tells Film Combat Syndicate. “Shaun has incredible vision as a director/creator/cameraman/choreographer/editor. He juggles these hats with a clever sense of humor and a brilliant attitude.” Gonzalez also expressed her fulfilment in working with Yuan and Charney for their first time. “It was a ton of fun working with Peipei because she has fantastic energy, lots of mad skills, and is just ready to plunge into the work.” she says. “I loved working with them both, and definitely hope to make more cool clips like this one, but even better!”
You may catch Gonzalez‘s credits in the upcoming action comedy, Ride Along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, the Joe Carnahan-directed Stretch later this year, and actor Olivier Gruner’s third directorial effort in Sector 4, later this year. Meanwhile, Yuan has several collaborations in the works with Thousand Pounds Action Company’s Chris Cowan, independent filmmaker Leo Kei Angelos, and actors Jimmy Chhiu, Brendon Huor and action director Vlad Rimburg, in addition to making her television show appearances Workaholics and Trophy Wife. You may follow further updates on Gonzalez‘s and Yuan‘s careers at their official websites.
Furthermore, if you are new to Charney‘s work in film – well over fifteen years in and going strong, then Battle Of The Blades: Girlfight/Knifefight is a sweet place to start going into the new year. Charney is also expected to appear among other high-profile action performers in the upcoming release of Dennis Ruel’s directorial debut, Unlucky Stars.
