Bruce Willis Actioner, RED Is Heading To NBC For Series Development
NBC still very much has a slate of exciting new TV shows for viewers to look forward to, and as it turns out, they’re not done yet. The 2003-published graphic novel, Red, created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, became a surprise hit with director Robert Schwentke’s 2010 live-action adaptation prior to helmer Dean Parisot’s sequel in 2013, each focusing on the story of retired government agents who become targets by the CIA.
That said, it appears NBC has snagged an opportunity to develop further iterations of DC Comics’s Homage publication into a pilot for an hour-long series to be produced by Lionsgate TV and DiBonaventura Pictures Television. Jon and Erich Hoeber, who wrote both films, and Mark Vahradian who also produced the films, executice producing the new series which Deadline states will sustain itself around the core concept of the graphic novel as seen in the films, but approach it with a more grounded vision with the characters struggling to maintain normal lives while fighting on both sides of the fence of the organization that disavowed them.
