The process of Fox’s live-action Gambit movie has so far been very frustrating as it’s one of the more deserving properties for film in the wake of well over a decade of X-Men movies. It’s been a little over a month since Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt left the forthcoming Marvel adaptation, a daunting update at the time for fans with actor Channing Tatum and actress Spectre co-star Lea Seydoux tapped to star.
So what’s happening now? Well, IGN came across a few tidbits from Deadline and The Wrap that the production is currently courting Doug Liman to sit the director’s chair. Liman is currently directing Tom Cruise’s newest, Mena, following the huge cult success of the live-action manga, Edge Of Tomorrow, which has since left its fanbase demanding what feels as a likely sequel should the momentum stay on course.
The topic of Liman’s possible addition came when Fleming Jr. drew a point retorting Bart in Deadline regarding actress Jennifer Lawrence’s essay on Lenny Letter regarding equal pay wherein the former also discussed actress Emily Blunt’s return in Liman’s hopeful Edge Of Tomorrow sequel along with Gambit.
Josh Zetumer wrote the script for the film while further casting details remain pending. As it stands, the film is arriving in 354 days, in which case, either filming starts REALLY soon, or the film could likely end up near the far end of next year or somewhere in early 2017.
Stay tuned.
