'Sicario' Writer, 'Civil War' Stars Team Up For WIND RIVER
Actor Jeremy Renner and actress Elizabeth Olson may be busy as Avengers nowadays lining up against Iron Man this summer in Captain America: Civil War. In the meantime, the two will be pairing once more outside the Marvel fray for the new thriller, Wind River, according to Deadline.
Writer Taylor Sheridan is providing the script on top of making his directorial debut which sees Renner in the role of Cory, a professional coyote and predator hunter for the Fish and Game Department who is stricken with grief over his daughter’s death. When he stumbles upon the body of another young woman, raped and abandoned in the frigid wilderness, he teams up with Olsen who plays a rookie FBI agent tasked with tracking down her killer.
Sheridan comes into 2016 reveling in the residual praise over his work with director Denis Villeneuve on the hit crime thriller, Sicario, which earned three Oscar nominations this season. The film, which starred Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benecio Del Toro is also on deck for a sequel at Lionsgate which Sheridan is scripting.
Wind River is expected to roll cameras in Park City, Utah this March. Riverstone Pictures and Acacia Filmed Entertainment LLC are co-financing with the latter producing with Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road with Peter Berg at Film 44 and Matthew George’s Savvy Media Holdings with Elizabeth Bell, Star Thrower Entertainment executive producing.
