Reynolds's HITMAN'S BODYGUARD Adds Salma Hayek And Elodie Yung
With everyone hung up on actor Ryan Reynolds’s then-forthcoming lead role in 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, in its good graces awaited further news on one other project, Kick-Aas 2 director Jeff Wadlow’s Hitman’s Bodyguard. Such a project is befitting for Reynolds in the wake of his latest success with Deadpool which maintained its number one spot for two weeks in a row.
Moreover, it’s just the kind of momentum that can be used here as production on Hitman’s Bodyguard is now set to begin in London on April 2, 2016 for Lionsgate to distribute. For this, the film is now boasting the additions of actresses Salma Hayek (Everly) and Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation). The two join Reynolds and actors Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman with a script from Tom O’Connor that sees Reynolds in the role of the world’s top protection agent now forced to help his arch-enemy – a hitman coming in from the cold, survive the 24 hours they have left to reach the Hague while an evil European dictator tries to kill them.
The film is produced by Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Christine Otal, Jason Bloom, Christa Campbell, Douglas Urbanski and Lati Grobman all executive producing. Reynolds and Oldman are currently starring in Ariel Vromen’s Criminal which opens on April 15 for while Yung, who will make her own Netflix series debut on in Marvel’s Daredevil on March 18, is currently set to appear in this weekend’s release of Gods Of Egypt. Both films hail from Lionsgate.
