RIDE ALONG 3 Is In Development
Actor and comedian Kevin Hart isn’t falling behind on his career any time soon, notably so with the release of his latest stand-up feature, What Now?, from Universal Pictures. In the meantime, the same could be said for his involvement in action comedy following two successful releases, Ride Along and Ride Along 2, also starring actor Ice Cube whose own comedic stint with actor Charlie Day in Richard Keen’s Fist Fight, opens in February next year.
Tim Storms directed Ride Along in 2014 with actress Tika Sumpter and actors Hart and Cube leading the tale of a fast-talking security guard and aspiring cop whose obligatory all-or-nothing ride-along with his fiancé’s jaded detective brother-in-law turns into a race against time to fish out courrpt cops and catch an elusive criminal. Their coexistence as butting siblings continued in Miami pitting them against a charismatic crime lord.
Both films helped earned the Universal-based title a gross of nearly $280 million dollars at the box office with the first film faring slightly better than the second, critically and commercially. As for whether a third is possible, well, new reports are confirming this week that Ride Along 3 is in the works.
Says Storms via The Wrap:
“We’re writing the script right now, we’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world,” he said. “I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas.”
