24: LEGACY Casts Corey Hawkins To Star!

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was on the road with father and actor Donald Sutherland late last year to promote his latest western pic, Forsaken. At the time, he made it pretty clear following Fox’s renewal announcement of the hit series, 24, that he was done with the show, which left things in the air as to who would replace him.

Fast forward six months later and the trades, including Variety, are out and about with news that Non-Stop and AMC’s The Walking Dead co-star, and Straight Outta Compton star, actor Corey Hawkins is taking the reigns for the impending season premiere of 24: Legacy. Series veterans, director Stephen Hopkins, and writers Manny Coto and Evan Katz are back and leading with Hawkins in the role of Eric Carter, whose troubled life once took a turn for the better with the Army Rangers. Now a military hero on his way home in Virginia to wife, Nicole, trouble has followed Carter to the states, pulling back in the line of fire with the Counter Terrorist Unit as his only means of salvation against a larger and deadlier plot on American soil.
Next to Hawkins’s addition, the show will bring a newly refurbished cast along with a central strong female lead described as a former head of the CTU who shares a long history with the agency. The show tentatively does not plan to revive any previous characters unless otherwise stated.
Coto and Katz are executive producing along with Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer through 20th Century Fox TV, Imagine TV and Teakwood Lane Productions.
