With Kung Fu Rookie, Timur Baktybayev introduced himself to the world via an undercover remake of Jackie Chan’s classic RUMBLE IN THE BRONX. It was a humble take on the classic, yet it captured the right essence, with the Kazakh actor mimicking the “Hong Kong Tornado” by replicating his every move and camera mannerism. There is no doubt that Chan is his idol and that Baktybayev knows his filmography by heart. However, despite that film’s indisputable quality, there is little virtue in pure imitation. It is difficult to carve out a name for yourself while standing in the shadow of a legend—especially someone like Chan, who acts as a total eclipse to anyone standing before him. CRIME 101: Amazon MGM And Alliance Home Media Slate June Release On Disc  For Chris Hemsworth Thriller

Director Bart Layton’s new star-studded thriller is getting a summer rollout on multiple disc formats with Crime 101. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo and Barry Keoghan for a release now slated for June 30. Overlook IX: THE FURIOUS, OBSESSION, NEVER AFTER DARK Among Honors At The Ninth Edition

The Overlook Film Festival is one area among a few I didn’t get to tap into this year in terms of review coverage. Otherwise, the four-day event has garnered some major promise with its line-up. Thus, with the ninth edition in our review come our raft of award wins and honorable mentions for this year’s festivities. This is a horror festival too, mind you, so I wouldn’t have expected a film like The Furious to have been among the picks, but…here we are.
