Maria director Pedring Lopez will reunite with actress Qymira for historical action drama, A Thread Of Steel to be shot at Hengdian World Studios in China. Further cast and crew and production details are pending following news from Variety’s Naman Ramachandran on Wednesday.
Grounded in a historical setting, the film weaves together action, drama and character-focused narrative, with both companies aiming to deliver a production of international scale built on distinctly Asian storytelling.
The project pairs Hong Kong label Act3 and Lopez’s BlackOps Studios Asia out of Manila once more following the strong reception for Lopez’s latest, Shadow Transit, at Filmart this month. Qymira stars in Shadow Transit along with Yoshi Sudarso and KC Montero, from a script by Lopez. The film’s inaugural presentation was held at QCinema International Film Festival back in November.
More below from Lopez and the team:
“With ‘A Thread of Steel,’ we’re expanding that vision into something even more cinematic – combining historical scope, action, and powerful character storytelling,” he said.
“This project represents the true beginning of our long-term creative vision,” Leslie Loh of Act3 said in a statement. “‘A Thread of Steel’ is exactly the kind of cinematic storytelling we want to champion – ambitious in scale, emotionally grounded, and designed for global audiences.”
