ABSOLUTE DOMINION: Nevada Setting The Stage For Netflix Martial Arts Tournament Thriller From ‘Punisher: War Zone’ Director

Netflix is partnering up with Jason Blum (The Purge franchise, Upgrade, Freaky) and German-Palestinian filmmaker Lexi Alexander (Punisher: War Zone, Green Street Hooligans, Lifted) for martial arts action film, Absolute Dominion.

An official statement by Netflix remains pending for now, but production is reportedly set to kick off later this month at the Terrible’s Hotel and Casino in Jean, Nevada near Las Vegas. The hotel has long since been closed down following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States back in March of 2020.

Set in 2085, Absolute Dominion centres on a world that has nearly been destroyed by religious terrorism where cities in countries all over the world have been annihilated.

Desperate for a solution to save humanity, the United Nations votes to implement a concept created by a popular internet comedian called The Battle Of Absolute Dominion. All qualifying belief systems will send one representative to compete in a martial arts tournament, the last fighter standing wins absolute dominion for one faith.

Alexander, who is a former WKA point-fighting champion, is tapped to direct the film, with Blum executive producing.

According to reports last week citing announcements from the Nevada Film Office, the film is budgeted at $13 million dollars and is expected to hire more than 600 jobs from this month through June, and as many as 500 extras.

The film is also on par to receive up to $2 million dollars from the state’s tax credit program. Tevin Adelman, a spokesperson representing the film according to KSNV News 3 Las Vegas, has stated the following:

“Purchase in goods and services from local Nevada vendors of approximately $4.2 million all totaling $9.5 million in qualified expenditures. And the feature film will highlight the Clark County area and will promote tourism to Nevada,”

Alexander grew cult acclaim after following up 2005’s Green Street Hooligans with Marvel reboot adaptation, Punisher: War Zone in 2008. Some of her recent television directing credits include “L.A.’s Finest”, “S.W.A.T.”, “Limitless” and “Supergirl”. She is represented by Mosaic Media Group.
