Action Spec Script, RUTHLESS Lands Brad Petyon To Direct For Amblin

San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton is well on his way with several projects, one of which now includes the female-driven action thriller, Ruthless from scribe John Swetnam. Deadline reports that the film has since landed at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners in the wake of the company’s latest investment by Universal Filmed Entertainment earlier this week joining Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment, eOne and Alibaba Pictures.

Names of actresses are tentatively being considered off-radar for the lead role of the Swetnam’s script, which, while primed with its share of twists, sees a legendary assassin diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and forced back into her former life for one last job to secure her daughter’s future. Weimaraner Republic Pictures are producing with The Shallows producers Matti Leshem and Lynn Harris, as will Tripp Vinson and Peyton’s ASAP Entertainment partner Jeff Fierson.
Vinson Films’ Tara Farney will serve as executive producer. Peyton, who is also readying a sequel to San Andreas as of last year, is also at the forefront of the new action thriller disaster epic, STXfilm’s The Black Hole, for which he will direct.
