ALTAY: T World Announces Television Launchpad For Turkish Multimedia Superhero Universe

Altay

T World Entertainment and Productions

Turkish production company T World Entertainment and Productions is reportedly launching its own superhero IP according to reports at THR. First on the roster will be Altay, the launchpad of a Turkish superheroverse packed with “diverse and localized heroes and stories”.

Bobby Roth (TV’s Lost, Prison Break and Grey’s Anatomy) will direct the pilot episode of Altay who joins a line-up that also lists characters such as Water, Nymp, Rumi, Nazar and The Twins. The shows are just a piece of the larger puzzle as there are plans stirring to delve even further with a reported three television shows and two feature films, as well as video games and books.

T World Entertainment and Productions creative producer and founder, Bülent Turgut, reportedly spoke highly of the venture, and its potential worldly appeal, stating “We knew from the get-go that creating a vast superhero universe from the ground up was not going to be easy. A serious investment in research and development, an all-encompassing and ongoing process for us, is necessary to tackle such a large-scale project,”.

He also noted the characters would be rooted in Islamic cultural, as opposed to religious, since the characters are predominantly Muslim, and that this would also serve the universe’s inclusivity with the presence of Russian and Jewish characters as well. “…We are a melting pot of faiths, cultures and people and we hope to represent that through our universe.” he added.

T World’s efforts are expected to appeal to streamers and push hard for the international markets, especially as the Philippines and Indonesia rev up their own ends to introduce their superheroes to the global fray.

A teaser for Altay will go live with T World presenting at MIPTV 2020 which kicks off on March 30 through April 2 at Cannes.
