ALTERED CARBON: Anthony Mackie To Inherit Takeshi Kovacs Role For Season Two

Actor Anthony Mackie has Fred Cavaye revival, Point Blank, readying production in due time. Until then, you can also chalk him up as next in line to claim the lead for Netflix’s eight-episode second season renewal of hit sci-fi action series, Altered Carbon.

The show, packed with sex, intrigue and tons of action and mystery, is based on the 2002 cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan which precedes two more books in its construction. Actor Joel Kinnaman was the principal star apart from actors Byron Mann and Will Yun Lee while among those co-starring were Ato Essandoh, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Chris Connor, Martha Higareda and actress Dichen Lachman who stars as one of the most daring and dauntless antagonists in TV history, and if you’re new to the series, that’s all I’m leaving here in hopes you’ll see it for yourself.

In the world of Altered Carbon, the journey of Takeshi Kovacs spans hundreds of years, many different bodies, and planets. This allows the story to explore themes of identity, mortality, and the human soul. In this new season, Anthony Mackie will be the new embodiment of Kovacs, as the series continues to expand on these deeper themes and ideas across longer periods of times and different worlds throughout the universe.

Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva confirmed on Friday that no one else has been announced for a return to the show, although it does mention the possibility of Lachman’s reprisal as well as that of Connor who plays the AI manager of the Raven Hotel. Alison Schapker is joining the series to executive producer and serve as co-showrunner with the show’s creator/executive producer Laeta Kalogridis.
