ARCHENEMY Trailer Sees Joe Manganiello As A Powerless Superhero Facing His Greatest Battle Yet

I have a feeling we’re gonna see a few superhero-driven narratives in the year to come – the kind centered on superheroes out of their element only to be pulled back into the fray when duty calls. Such is the case for Daniel Isn’t Here helmer Adam Egypt Mortimer’s new film, Archenemy, which Voltage Pictures revealed this week in the form of an official trailer, firstly revealed by Variety

Max Fist was the greatest hero of a vast city in another universe. He saved his world from destruction but crashed through space and time… and wound up here – a desolate American suburb. Powerless, a broken drunk telling stories about his glory days — stories that no one believes, until he meets Hamster, a kid who wants to be a famous writer who believes Max’s story. Max finally has someone who believes him, and Hamster has someone who he thinks won’t let him down.

But things fall apart when Hamster’s sister Indigo steals $100,000 from the mob. Max will try to learn what it means to be a hero — here, now, without superpowers — one brutal blow at a time.

The pic hails from SpectreVision (Mandy) and Manganiello’s 3:59 banner, which produced the pic with financing in part by Legion M, Head Gear FIlms, Almost Never Films, and Voltage Pictures. The film also stars Skylan Brooks (The Darkest Minds), Zolee Griggs (Adam Ruins Everything), Amy Seimetz (You’re Next) and Glenn Howerton (A.P. Bio), and is expected to release from RLJE Films in 2021.
