I’ve got some viewing to do soon on Netflix with now-streaming thriller, Dead Kids. Its celebrated director, Mikhail Red, is also set to follow up Joko Anwar and Ekchai Uekrongtham as the season-three director of HBO Asia series, Halfworlds.
That series shoots in January, while the latest Variety report insists we can expect to hear good and plently about Red for his new western, Arisaka. The report states the film, whose title takes after a World War II Japanese bolt-action rifle, is based on a famous massacre that once happened in the Philippines.
Philippines-based Ten17P is producing, while Red reportedly adds other titles to his hopeful roster while attending ScreenSingapore’s Southeast Asian Film Financing Project Market. Read more at Variety.
