Ayaka Miyoshi Is KNUCKLE GIRL In New Korean-Japan Film Adaptation For Prime Video This November

New promotional art is making the rounds for Korean-Japan co-production, Knuckle Girl, for Prime Video. Chang (The Target) is directing from a script by Yoo Gap-yeol (Emergency Declaration) and Jeong Byeong-sik (The Villain), based on Jeong Sang-young’s 2014 KakaoPage webtoon of the same name.

Here is a rundown of the film as Variety’s Patrick Frater reports it: “The narrative revolves around a promising woman boxer, Ran, who takes on school bullies and participates in illegal bouts. When her sister is kidnapped by a criminal gang, Ran must risk her own life, by breaking into the underworld wearing brass knuckledusters, rather than boxing gloves.”

Ayaka Miyoshi of Dance With Me and Inuyashiki fame is starring in the film following six months of training for the role. The actress most recently appeared in the role of resourceful ex-detective An in both seasons of Shinsuke Sato’s action-packed Netflix series adaptation of Alice In Borderland alongside Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya.

“This is a global project involving a writer, Japanese actors, and a global OTT, and the thrilling story, sensuous directing, and passionate performances of the actors will allow you to experience a wealth of fun that is different from webtoons,” said Chang.

“This is the first live-action adaptation of an original webcomic and our first Japanese-Korean collaboration,” said an Amazon Studios spokesman.

Kakao Entertainment imprint Kross Pictures is producing Knuckle Girl as an Amazon Original for its Prime Video launch on November 2.
