Ben Affleck Boards WB's JUSTICE LEAGUE As Executive Producer

The past few months have been somewhat tumultuous for Warner Bros. in the wake of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Suicide Squad underwent more filming in recent weeks for a number of reasons and The Flash is, once again, in need of a director while the former’s helmer, Zack Snyder, is on notice with fans – mixed reviews and such.

He’s currently underway with directing Justice League: Part One and much to his credit as well apart from critical murmurs with BvS raking in a global gross just shy of $900 million; It’s still quite a feat to achieve, but with the nature of franchise fatigue, caution looms – a fact that even Warner Bros. adhered to in the wake of news in April that it would focus more on tenpole films such as those of its DC Comics titles.
One other update at the time according to THR was the possibility of adding a “producer” in conjunction with its “adjustments”, to which the report stated there were denials based on sources close to the situation. That said, leave it to Deadline to reveal that Batman V Superman star Ben Affleck has been attached to the braintrust of the Justice League films as executive producer, and not for nothing, either.
Affleck’s portrayal of the titular Dark Knight in the March DC-based film that saw him joining Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, was a winning one with fans even long before it was shown on the big screen. Fan expectations of failure and ire due to displeasure with his appearance in the 2003 Daredevil film ceremoniously faded with the re-emergence of Affleck’s Batman a la Frank Miller’s iconization, one which has since garnered the prospects of future solo Batman movies.
As such, he has since been confirmed as the studio is moving forward with Affleck starting and directing in their forthcoming establishment of a new Batman franchise. Affleck is still set for the role in Snyder’s two-part Justice League event movies in 2017 and 2019 which should be quite the interesting appetizer for fans until then.
