Debut director Matthew Pope’s Blood On Her Name was especially of the more jovial feats for festivalgoers last year. Regrettably, I never got around to this title while it made the rounds for Yellow Veil Pictures at Fantasia, and eventually at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles for its U.S. premiere, but a release is definitely much closer now with with a day-and-date select theatrical and VoD rollout scheduled for February 28.
Billed as “a character-driven thriller that explores questions of guilt, moral identity, and the irrevocability of choices in the direst circumstances”, Blood On Her Name features actress Bethany Anne Lind as local garage owner Leigh Tiller, forced to endure the aftermath of an act of self-defense. Torn between her primal instincts and tortured conscience, Leigh is forced to deal with the moral quandary of hiding her crime from her estranged father, a cop with long history of moral compromise, and from the keen-eyed girlfriend of the deceased.
Pope co-wrote Blood On Her Name with producer and fellow Rising Creek founder Don Thompson. The film also stars Will Patton, Elisabeth Röhm and Jared Ivers.
