January and May saw developments for MMA sports drama, Cagefighter which hadn’t yet come to pass. A new Deadline report now clarifies its return to schedule with cameras set to roll in Saskatchewan on November with Jesse Quinones (Calloused Hands) writing and directing.

With five title defences under his belt, knock out artist, Reiss Gibson, is on the cusp of cementing himself as one of the all-time greatest to ever step inside the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) cage. And his career is not about to end there – his savvy promoter, female powerhouse, Max Black, has big plans for Reiss’s sixth title defence, setting Reiss up to face international WWE showman, Randy Stone.

With Stone having never set foot in the cage, Reiss – confident in his unparalleled experience – spends the weeks leading up to the fight neglecting his usual training, basking in newfound international attention and the promise of the fame to come. For in the eyes of the public, the result of the fight is an almost foregone conclusion. So why would the reality be any different?

Both Josh Herdman and Michael Jai White are out with the latter currently focused on other matters pertaining to his business at Jaigantic Studios, including for The Outlaw Johnny Black which is now in its next phase of pre-production.

The cast for Cagefighter has since added UK MMA fighter Alex Montagnani for his lead feature debut opposite former WWE wrestler Jon Moxley (a.k.a. Dean Ambrose) who was cast back in May. The two join actress Gina Gershon who has been with the project since earlier this year, and with the latest additions of WWE champion fave Jay “Christian” Reso and former UFC champions Chuck Liddell and Luke Rockhold.

Kaleidoscope CEO Spencer Pollard said, “Kaleidoscope is very excited to be able to bring Cagefighter to AFM with the cast locked and the film shooting before we arrive in Santa Monica. We think the film will be very sought after and the sales team are looking forward to discussing it with buyers during the market”.

Shayne Putzlocher and Jessica Gaube of Trilight Entertainment, and Lorianne Hall will produce with Sara Shaak whose Anamorphic Media is financing production.
