CARNIFEX: Get A First Look At Sean Lahiff’s Debut Horror Thriller From Arclight

Arclight Films is sharing the latest look at Sean Lahiff’s inaugural horror thriller, Carnifex, out of EFM. The film is now in post-production according to producers Helen Leake AM and Gena Ashwell from Dancing Road Productions.

Shot in Adelaide, South Australia and developed from an original concept by Dancing Road, Carnifex marks the feature directorial debut of acclaimed film editor Lahiff, from a script by Shanti Gudgeon (Les Norton, Nowhere Boys), and with Kieran Fowler (Terminus, The Luminaries, Soulmate) serving as director of photography.

Starring Alexandra Park (The Royals), Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat) and Harry Greenwood (Wakefield), along with Darren Gilshenan, the film centers on Bailey, an aspiring documentary filmmaker who joins conservationists Grace and Ben, journeying deep into the Australian outback to track and record the animals left displaced and devastated by the fires as the country recovers. As night falls, the trio discover a terrifying species and quickly become the ones being tracked.

Arclight Films is handling worldwide rights to the film (excluding Australia and New Zealand). Exec producers are Nicolas Shaw, Eddie Shaw, Patrick Hastings, Jacob Kleinman, Anton Andreacchio, Carlo Andreacchio and Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton, Ying Ye, Ryan Hamilton and Michelle Krumm.

“The film is an exhilarating thriller set in the awe-inspiring backdrop of the beautiful Australian landscape. The story’s appeal and uniqueness will woo worldwide audiences looking for a unique creature experience. Sean has demonstrated excellent editing, directing, and camera skills, which we all enjoyed while watching his award-winning short Smashed. We are proud to be bringing his feature directorial debut to audiences worldwide,” said Hamilton, Arclight Films Chairman.

Arclight’s current slate also includes The Portable Door, Ryan Philippe thriller The Locksmith, dark-comedy Big Gold Brick, Venice Film Festival Official Selection The Furnace and Sundance’s critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller US release, Possessor, starring Andrea Riseborough.
