LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — The post apocalyptic sci-fi adventure, 2307: WINTER’S DREAM, written and directed by Joey Curtis, writer of the Academy Award Nominated BLUE VALENTINE, received the LA INDIE Film Festival’s 2016 award for Best Direction at the festival’s closing ceremony Sunday night. Curtis, who was in attendance with the film’s producer, Robert Beaumont, thanked Beaumont as his long time collaborator and close friend. The SoCal native also credited the talented cast and crew, particularly the film’s star Paul Sidhu, and the festival for hosting the sold out LA screening.

2307: WINTER’S DREAM continues its festival run and prepares for its New York festival premiere at the 10th Edition of the Buffalo International Film Festival. The film will screen on Saturday, October 8th at the historic North Park Theatre. A Q & A with the filmmakers is scheduled to follow the show which starts at 10:15PM.

BIFF is a welcome return to Western NY for the filmmakers. Exteriors of the ambitious indie were filmed in the greater Buffalo area, utilizing extraordinary winter weather conditions and never-before-shot locations. Interiors were shot in and around Los Angeles and in the caverns of Kings Canyon National Park that were previously unavailable to film crews. The film takes places 300 years in the future where mankind finds themselves trapped in a frozen wasteland. Genetically engineered “Humanoid” slaves mount a rebellion, and enhanced super soldiers are dispatched to combat the threat.

Beaumont, a Western New York native now based in Venice, California, is pleased to have brought another project back home. “Location shooting on this scale is fraught with challenges,” said Beaumont. “We relied on the support and dedication of the film commission, our crews, and local communities to make it happen.” Beaumont produced the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival darling, EMELIE, starring Sarah Bolger, which was also shot in Buffalo.

2307: WINTER’S DREAM also stars Arielle Holmes, who recently featured in Andrea Arnold’s AMERICAN HONEY, starring Shia LaBeouf, which won the Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Timothy Lee DePriest, who will be in HBO’s upcoming WESTWORLD series, is also featured.

ULTRAMEDIA and SC Films, who handle worldwide rights for 2307: WINTER’S DREAM, will present the film to buyers at the American Film Market in November. They recently closed foreign distribution deals with Signature in the United Kingdom, Ascot Elite in Germany, Nettai Museum in Japan, Falcon Films in the Middle East, Hagi Film in Poland, Tanweer Ltd. in Turkey and One2See Movies in Benelux. The team is presently engaged in talks for the remaining territories. Further festival screenings are planned for the film in advance of AFM; announcements to follow.
