Catch The Trailer For Trent Haaga’s 68 KILL

Writer and director Trent Haaga’s latest crime thriller, 68 Kill, is readying an August 4 release from IFC Midnight. Before then, audiences at Fantasia in Montreal will have a chance to get a glimpse of the award-winning SXSW favorite later this month which has Alisha Boe, Matthew Gray Gubler, AnnaLynne McCord and Sheila Vand starring. As Fantasia Festival’s Mitch Davis writes:

Chip (Matthew Gray Gubler) cleans septic tanks for a living and wants more out of life than he’s currently got, yet his loving relationship with Liza (AnnaLynne McCord) makes him an overall happy man. Liza’s main gig is stripping, but she’s got a great side thing going with a gun-loving sugar daddy. Learning that her mark has $68,000 lying around in cash, she decides to heist it, roping Chip in with a non-violence promise that instantly goes out the window in a torrent of wholly preventable blood and death, kicking off a series of increasingly caustic situations that begin well out of control and proceed to get much, much worse for everyone. Ain’t love grand?

A crazy, crazy, crazy scumbag thrill-ride of white-trash crime and kink that manages to subversively play with gender and be a toxic anti-romantic bloodbath of a comedy in the same breathless blow. Written and directed by cine-loon Trent Haaga, whose name will instantly smash bells with any Fantasia regular who may have seen CHEAP THRILLS or DEADGIRL, which the filmmaker scripted, or his own directorial whackblast CHOP,68 KILL took home the audience award for Best Midnight Feature at this year’s SXSW, for reasons that will become evident immediately upon contact. Gubler and McCord, both Fantasia regulars from the adored Richard Bates Jr universe, blast through the frame with volcanically eccentric performances and a uniquely unhinged turn from the always-amazing Sheila Vand (A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT) seals the nihilistic deal. Perhaps most impressive of all is gifted Norwegian-Somali actress Alisha Boe, whose star is currently skyrocketing thanks to her powerful work in 13 REASONS WHY. Haaga’s homicidal hurricane is going to nail your jaw to the ground.

Snowfort Pictures will be presenting the film by then while IFC Midnight unveiled its most recent artwork and official trailer. Take a look!
